PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad wasted no time as Malaysia’s new Auditor General this morning by clicking the download button and installing a trial version of the Quickbooks accounting package onto her work computer.
“Some may doubt Madinah’s lack of qualifications, but once she’s done familiarising herself with accounting software, she’ll be more than ready to lead a team of auditors responsible for scrutinising Malaysia’s public sector spending without fear or favour,” an aide explained.
“Advising the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as to who is Malaysia’s most suitable Auditor General couldn’t have been an easy decision for the Prime Minister to make,” a PMO source admitted.
“It came down to two choices, one candidate, a qualified auditor with years of finance experience who after reading the classified 1MDB audit report believed the PM is a kleptocrat unfit for office, the other, a non-auditor UMNO loyalist Political Sciences Bachelor (Hons), whose husband once declared he’d ‘Die for Najib.’”
“It was close, and probably came down to a coin toss, but the PM surprisingly went with option two!”
