BN announce nationwide tour to explain why taxpayer funds will be spent on 90s forex losses roadshow
KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO and Barisan Nasional component parties announced they will be going on a nationwide tour to explain to the rakyat why we need Tan Sri Annuar Musa’s roadshow to inform the public about the Cabinet’s decision to suddenly probe Bank Negara’s foreign exchange losses from the 90s and why 1MDB doesn’t deserve similar treatment.
“The public are questioning why taxpayer funds need to be wasted on a national roadshow, so a national tour will be conducted to explain it thoroughly,” explained an UMNO Information Ministry source,
“We don’t want to give away any spoilers before the tour, roadshow and task force, but the fact 2017 isan election year, and the 90’s BNM scandal occurred when ‘you know who’ was Prime Minister, might give a hint to the outcome of the probe we suddenly found really important to talk about after doing nothing for 20 years. The cost of the nationwide tour will come from the government’s own money.”
It is understood the Bank Negara losses involved public funds while 1MDB is a separate Finance Ministry owned entity whose loans are underwritten by public funds, making them completely different.
