RIYADH:  Popular Saudi fast-food chain, Hotdog Express admitted it was confused by the hotdog renaming policies enforced by Malaysia’s religious authorities, after abandoning plans to open a KL outlet today.

“Hotdog Express has been serving halal hotdogs to Muslims since 2001,” said manager Mahmoud Al Saud, “but sadly, Malaysia’s religious authorities believe local Muslims are easily confused and are insisting we change our name.”

The restaurant recently ruled out calling itself  ‘Hot Sausage Express’ in Malaysia after concerns the new name may attract the wrong type of confused clientele.
