GEORGETOWN: Today the Penang government announced all 18-year-old men and women will be conscripted to serve six months hawker stall service. This compulsory cooking duty is to protect the state’s delicious hawker fare from the invasion of meddling foreign cooks.
“Our arthritic hawker food chefs aren’t getting any younger,” said Culinary Defense Minister Mun Ching Mee, “Their children prefer office jobs, or travel abroad to work and study. When our last char kueh teow auntie hangs up her cooking goggles, and our cendol uncle stops grinding ice, who will carry on after?”
“We need our brightest young Penangites to take up their senduk and kuali, and MASAK for the good of Penang. Nobody can prepare curry mee, assam laksa, cendol and rojak like Malaysians can!”
“We DAP members believe an individual’s performance is more important than race in education and economic participation, but if outsiders mess with our hokkien mee, a race-based policy really is the only solution!”
