ALOR SETAR: Proving once again he takes after his father, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir announced an ambitious and expensive development project today, a 48KM bridge linking Alor Setar with the Thai border.
“This bridge which will improve the local economy, bring in Thai tourists, and most importantly allow the people of Kedah to quickly visit their second wives,” said Mukhriz in a statement, “We will get China to pay the estimated RM8 Billion, I’m sure they wont mind.”
“Some have questioned the necessity of a bridge over land when we have existing roads, but I remind critics there was already a first bridge and ferry when Lim Guan Eng got his new Penang bridge. Size is important in matters of state, so I’m sure people will be impressed when they see my bridge is longer than his.”
